Hello Faithful Readers!

I would like to inform you, that according to my sources, T-Pain is deciding to not use Auto-tune on his new album, rEVOLVEr. Here is is official statement as to why:

"You can't stick with one thing forever," T-Pain explains. "After you figure out how stuff works, you've got to start making your own. When everybody talks about (Auto-Tune), they pretty much say T-Pain. So what simpler thing to do? It's supply and demand. You want the T-Pain sound? I'm gonna give you the T-Pain effect."


Personally, I have to respect his wishes on this. An artist cannot stick to the same thing all the time. It's always good to try new things. A good example of this is Panic(!) At The Disco. There are major musical differences between their albums, Fever You Can't Sweat Out and Pretty Odd. They are incredibly different. But Panic pulled it off because it was only their second album. However on their third album, they returned to that familier "first album" soun.  The only band that not changing really worked for was The Ramones. I love every one of their albums from Ramones  to Adios Amigos.  


Part of being a musician or any other form of artists is taking chances. You put yourself down on the canvas or in the lyrics or in your music. Not everybody will like who you are. Even if a band or musician isn't good, I respect them. It takes quite a bit of guts to put yourself out there like that. 


So I say, Well played T-Pain!

I would like to wish a very happy birthday to Mr. Cat Stevens or Yusef Islam as he is called now. He is one of my dad's favorite recording artists, and because I grew up around that, he is one of my favorite recording artists.

Sidewalks- Matt & Kim

This is Matt & Kim's third studio album, and in my opinion gives their second album, Grand, a run for its money. This album give you a genuine taste of NYC. It can be said that Matt matured a little in his lyrics and his sound. Not to say that Matt & Kim and  Grand weren't good. They were good. But why not leave good for great, as one of the songs on Sidewalks suggests?






















Fixed At Zero- VersaEmerge

This is VersaEmerge's first studio album. But definitely not their first compilation of material. Preceded by this album were 2 or 3 EPs. 
The front cover of the album and the title song both have vultures as a re-occuring theme. "Vultures, themselves, are lazy and not capable hunters. I think that the vulture represents the things inside us that hinder us or hold us back", says lead vocalist, Sierra Kusterbeck . Vultures are also what VersaEmerge's fanbase has come to call itself. 

Write About Love- Belle and Sebastian

It's Belle & Sebastian...nuff said. No.. Jk. There are so many great things that I can say about this album. My friends used to say that Belle and Sebastian's music is music only a hipster mother could love. Well, Belle and Sebastian's 8th studio album definitely changed their minds. Stuart and his band definitely did a great job writing about...let's see. What did they write about? OH write about Love. The album features artists like Norah Jones (on Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John) and Carrie Mulligan (on Write About Love). Actually, in all honesty, the fact that is it is indeed Belle & Sebastian sort of speaks for itself. They are known world-wide and they have the(se) unique sound(s) that only Belle & Sebastian are capable of pulling off.

Everyday that I can, I will post some song of the day. Today's Blink-182 song of the day is a song that is very very close to me. It's a song that I've been listening to for around 10 years. And I will listen to it until the day I go away to college. 

My Belle and Sebastian song of the day is off of their new album, Belle and Sebastian Write About Love. It is the most popular song off of the album among my group of friends and I thought it a great song of the day pick.

My indie rock song of the day is by a very deserving band that I can say is definitely going to go places.



SSLYBY is one of my favorite bands. And according to my sources, I will definitely be writing more about them and their exploits very soon.

Music and choices

Hello Faithful readers!

I have a question that ultimately has a deeper meaning than the words on the surface. My question is, what song changed your life? And by that, I mean that it changed your way of thinking, changed your way of looking at things, and caused you to want to be part of a solution to the problems in the world? 

People say that music isn't actually a valid form of persuasion, but I beg to differ. If you look back on history, then you'll start to see that there are many times where music led revolutions. For example, there was a man named Sam Cooke. Not only was Cooke one of the pioneers of soul music, he also helped give his people hope in an oppressive time. He is said to be one of the most influential writers of the 20th Century. I consider this to be true seeing as his voice can still be heard today in modern society. Julian Casablancas, of The Strokes, has named Cooke's song, A Change is Going To Come, as one of his favorite songs. There are many more examples of music that has changed history and that have effects that still resonates in modern times. 

Modern times.... two very rude words indeed. But why? Why do they have to be? When I was younger, I used to a lot of hateful songs that did nothing, but blame the government for my problems. Now that I look back and re-read those songs, all I see are empty words. I criticized everything and everyone EXCEPT myself, yet I failed to describe a viable solution. Now that I am older, I understand more about the way that the government works, the way that the modern world works, the way the concept of problem-solving works. It is also became apparent to me that before I tried to fix the problems in the world, I need to the problems in my own life.

I am not going to say what songs have changed my life. perspective, and outlook on the world. Instead, I will leave that up to your imagination.

UP ALL NIGHT SINGLE: Tom's special time

Hello faithful readers!

Today's big subject is the Blink-182 single entitled, Up All Night. Blink-182 is a pop-punk band from San Diego that was originally formed by guitarist, Tom Delonge, bassist, Mark Hoppus, and drummer, Scott Raynor in 1992. Their first album was entitled, Cheshire Cat and was released in 1994 with little to no commerical success. However, their second album, entitled, Dude Ranch, released in 1997 achieved great success and had several hit songs such as Dammit and Josie.  Their album, Enema of the State. released in 1999 made them a household name. The most popular song on the album, All The Small Things, is their most well known song amongst the public. Shortly before production of Enema, Hoppus and Delonge fired Raynor from the band due to his alcohol addiction and his drug addictions. They then hired long time touring drummer, Travis Barker, of the Aquabats as the permanent drummer. The trio toured Enema and recorded a live album titled,  The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show: The Enema Strikes Back.  In November of 2000, the band began recording their fourth studio album. The album in question is Take off Your Pants and Jacket which was released in June of 2001. TOYPJ shared much of the success that was achieved with Enema. The album featured hits like : The Rock Show, First Date, and Stay Together For The Kids.  In January of 2003, Blink-182 once again hit the studios and started recording their emponymously titled album, Blink-182. Fans complained that this album did not share many similarities with any of their other albums and did not retain the band's pop-punk roots. While recording a 6th album, Delonge quit the band.  And that... was your history lesson for the day. 

I've been listening to Blink-182 for as long as I can remember. I actually remember writing an essay in third grade stating that when I grew up, I wanted to be Tom Delonge and/or Mark Hoppus, play music, and tell penis jokes for a living. I actually got an +A on that paper despite my use of the word penis. But anyway... I was totally bummed when they broke up. And I had waited 8 years to satisfy my craving for new Blink-182. 

I've taken the opinons of some of my friends and here's what they have to say about the new single, Up All Night. 

"I'm not quire sure waht to think yet. It doesn't sound like them. I'll like it if ther are some punkier, more Blinkish songs on the album"-  Jack Lange

"It's like Angels and Airwaves and Boxcar Racer having a baby. Not as catchy or energetic as old Blink, but I still love it. "- Wes Fletcher

"It's fucking amazing!"- Chess Fletcher

Personally, I agree with Wes. I think it sounds like AVA and Boxcar Racer had a child. A test-tube child that just so happened to be the new Blink-182. I can tell Tom did a lot of writing on this song.
